Invest in the Whitsundays’ Story: Whitsundays Writers Festival Opens 2026 Partnership Opportunities
Following the relaunch of the Whitsundays Writers Festival in 2024, the newly formed committee of Richard Evans, Cait Fleming and Dr Julia Evans are now inviting local and national businesses to play a foundation role in the festival’s future.
The 2026-27 Partnership Prospectus is now available, offering a unique opportunity to invest in a cultural asset designed to drive regional growth and creative tourism.
Rather than a traditional sponsorship model, the Festival is seeking “Visionary Partners” who recognise the economic and social value of a vibrant arts scene.
With a multi-year roadmap to transition the festival into a premier national destination event, early partners will be instrumental in re-establishing the Whitsundays as a hub for Readers, Writers, and Thinkers.
Festival President and author, Richard Evans said:
We aren’t just looking for sponsors; we are looking for collaborators who believe in the power of the Whitsundays story. By partnering with us now, businesses are helping build a legacy that will eventually attract thousands of cultural tourists to our shores, benefiting our local hospitality, tourism, and retail sectors.
The 2026 festival, set for September 13 at the Whitsunday Marine Club, will feature a curated program of in-conversation discussions with local authors, keynote presentation and award presentations and the new Stories by the Sea: Community Book Buy and Swap afternoon event.
Partnership highlights for 2026 include:
- Community Connection: Direct engagement with a diverse demographic of local residents and regional visitors.
- A Tiered Approach: Opportunities ranging from major two-year sponsorship arrangements through to $500 Friend of the Festival.
- Legacy Status: Recognition as a founding partner of the festival’s new era, leading into the 2027 and beyond national expansion.
A writers festival is about ideas and stories – it adds something new to how people see our region. It’s a chance for the business community to support local writers and be part of growing the Whitsundays’ creative life, Mr Evans said.
The 2026 Partnership Prospectus details tiered packages designed to provide measurable return on investment while supporting the festival’s non-profit mission.
