Submission Instructions
To celebrate International Day of Storytelling, you are invited to take part in our Fast Fiction Competition – a creative challenge designed to spark imagination and celebrate the art of storytelling.
Entry Requirements
- Submit an original short story of 250 words or less
- Your story should respond to the prompt:
“Something unexpected washed ashore on Whitehaven Beach…” - Entries must be unpublished and your own work
Key Dates
- Submissions must be completed via the online form on the festival website
Prize
- $100 cash prize
- Complimentary day pass to the 2026 Whitsundays Writers Festival (Sunday 13 September 2026)
We encourage writers of all levels to participate whether you’re just starting out or have been writing for years.
