Getting to Airlie Beach

By car: Airlie Beach is located approximately 20 minutes drive off the Bruce Highway at Proserpine. Just follow the signs to Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands along Shute Harbour Road.

By plane: Qantas, Jetstar, and Virgin fly to the Whitsunday Coast Airport (Proserpine) which is just a 30-minute drive to Airlie Beach. Taxis are limited, and there is no Uber (or similar) in the Whitsundays. The best way to travel from the airport to your accommodation is by bus transfer. We recommend you pre-book your airport-accommodation bus transfer with Whitsunday Transit.

By ferry: Hamilton Island Airport is a 50-minute ferry ride to the mainland into the Port of Airlie with Cruise Whitsundays.

Accommodation

There are a number of accommodation options in Airlie Beach.

The Festival’s ‘home base’ will be the Whitsunday Sailing Club (11 Ocean Road, Airlie Beach see map below) so accommodation near or around Airlie Beach main street will be handy. Please note, Airlie Beach is surrounded by a number of steep hills. While accommodation venues may say they are within short walking distance to Airlie Beach, it may be a difficult walk!
