Share Your Story with the Whitsundays

Seeking local authors!

The Whitsundays Writers Festival is proud to shine a spotlight on the exceptional literary talent of our own region.
For our 2026 festival, we are seeking local authors to join our panels and connect directly with our community of readers.
This is an invitation to be part of two intimate and insightful conversations:

  1. Is There a Story Inside You? – A discussion on the journey to becoming a published author.
  2. Where Do You Get Your Ideas From? – An exploration of inspiration and the creative process.

We are also committed to supporting our local literary economy and will provide dedicated opportunities for authors to sell their books directly to the festival audience.
If you are a published author residing in the Whitsundays, Central or North Queensland region, we invite you to express your interest.

Important Information for Applicants

  • The 2026 Festival will be held 10:30am-4:30pm Sunday 13 September at the Whitsunday Marine Club, Cannonvale.
  • This is a curated opportunity. Submission of an EOI does not guarantee participation.
  • Selected authors will be notified by Tuesday 31 March 2026.
  • The festival will provide the venue, marketing, and audience for the sessions. Selected authors will participate as guest panelists.
  • For authors opting to sell books: The festival will facilitate a dedicated local author sales area. Authors are responsible for managing their own stock, sales transactions (EFTPOS/cash), and GST obligations.

This is a wonderful opportunity to engage with readers, celebrate your work, and contribute to the vibrant literary culture of our region.
We look forward to hearing your story!
