Peter Utber and his wife lived and sailed their small yacht around the coast of Australia for eighteen years before settling in the Whitsundays 24 years ago.
He has written numerous short stories and poetry, many published by The Coastal Passage yachting magazine.
Peter was inspired to write his first full length novel in 2020, Demography Day (under non de plume, Peter Breally) after reading Dick Smiths book Population Crisis. Peter’s story comes across as a philosophical intrigue, a work of fiction that draws on contemporary fact and Peter’s long term sailing background.
Demography Day was launched by an American publisher, where it is rating well and attracting a reading audience, and now ready to be enjoyed by Australian readers.

Reviews for Demography Day:
“What opens as a potential sci-fi mystery quickly escalates into a global political thriller, as powerful individuals try to wrestle control from a situation that will not yield it. The author does an inspiring job of telling the same story from multiple perspectives. Compelling and impossible to predict, this is a thrilling and thought-provoking read.”
“At the core of this story, we learn of the damaging effects of overpopulation and how it in turn causes problems in species decline and cultural values. From the start of the story, you are sucked into it with no hesitation, instantly wondering where it’s going and why these things are happening across the globe. It will send you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions which is the mark of a truly great author.”
