There are endless opportunities for individuals and regional businesses to support the Festival by purchasing a Friend of the Festival package or providing in-kind products, services, or vouchers to the value of $500*:

  • One standard ticket to Love Letter to Queensland event and a 3-day ticket to the Whitsundays Writers Festival.

Love Letter to Queensland special event

The Love Letter to Queensland event – 6:30pm-9pm Thursday 5 September, Coral Sea Resort, Airlie Beach – will feature a stimulating lineup of notable speakers, each presenting their own love letters to Queensland, offering a diverse array of perspectives and experiences.

This is a special supper-club styled event, with light supper and two drink vouchers provided followed by a cash bar. Premium ticket holders receive guaranteed VIP up-front seating with personalised table service. General ticket holders will enjoy the event from the gallery, standing room only with limited seating available.

The inaugural Love Letter to Queensland event and writing competition is being coordinated by the 2024 Whitsundays Writers Festival and proudly supported by James Cook University’s Roderick Centre for Australian Literature and Creative Writing and a Whitsunday Regional Council community assistance grant.

  • Friday (9:00am-5:00pm) and Saturday (9:00am-2:30pm) program at the Whitsunday Sailing Club of author keynotes and conversations with arrival, morning, and afternoon tea. Lunch is not included Friday and Saturday, so you are free to explore Airlie Beach cafes and restaurants within walking distance.
  • Friday evening Poetry Karaoke (5:00pm-6:30pm) at the Whitsunday Sailing Club with light refreshments and two drink vouchers.
  • Lively Saturday Sundowner (5:00pm-6:30pm) at Whisper Bar at Mirage Whitsundays with light refreshments and two drink vouchers. Return bus transfer will be available.
  • Your choice of Sunday (9:00am-12:00pm) practical workshops with arrival and morning tea.
  • Sunday (12:30pm-2:30pm) Local Author Long Lunch at the Whitsunday Marine Club with light lunch and two drink vouchers.

Saturday Big Book Club High Tea

The Big Book Club High Tea featuring Sally Hepworth and Kristy Manning, hosted by Karina Kilmore, will be held 3:15pm-4:45pm Saturday 7 September at My Rainbow Bakery, Shingley Beach. My Rainbow Bakery’s High Tea is included in the ticket price. Select coffee, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages available for purchase.

Sunday Local Author Long Lunch

The Festival closes with a celebration of the region’s writers. The Local Author Long Lunch will be held 12:30pm-2:30pm Sunday 8 September at the Whitsunday Marine Club, Cannonvale. Your ticket includes light lunch and two drink vouchers, and a cash bar. Return bus transfer to/from the Whitsunday Sailing Club will be available.
