After 33 years as a police officer, Jack Roney handed in his badge and gun to focus on being a fulltime crime fiction author.
His novels are inspired by first-hand experience as a patrol officer, detective, strategic policy officer, media and communications officer, operational skills/firearms instructor and police academy facilitator. Jack draws on these experiences to bring authenticity and realism to his writing and to immerse the reader in fast-paced, gritty and emotionally charged stories.
An early edition of his first novel was shortlisted in the Watpad Awards. Jack was selected for the QWC Printable Program and Fishbowl Residency, and runner-up in the Hawkeye Manuscript Development Award which led to a traditional publishing contract.
He’s teamed up with authors Harry Colfer and Bryn Smith to create the Genre Fiction Podcast.
He is a member of the Queensland Writers Centre (QWC), Australian Society of Authors and Australian Crime Writers Association.
