The Love Letter to Queensland initiative comprises of a community writing competition and a special event that captures the essence of what makes Queensland so special to each of us. Love Letter to Queensland is an opportunity to reflect on experiences, memories, and connections to Queensland and express them in a love letter.

Our Love Letter to Queensland community writing competition is open. Prizes will be awarded for best submissions in Adult (Daydream Island Gift Voucher 2 nights Superior Ocean Room including breakfast & Transfers from Airlie Beach or Hamilton Island for 2 valued at $1000), Under 18 Years (Tropix Photography Gift Voucher for Branding Photography Filming valued at $550), and Under 12 Years (Street Library Australia Street Library valued at $250 plus Kitten Vintage Mackay Donated Books Starter Pack) divisions plus Highly Commended Certificates.

On Friday September 12, 2025 our 2025 Whitsundays Writers Festival Love Letter to Queensland event commences at 6pm with an Official Opening by Mayor Ry Collins in the Whitsunday Sailing Club theatre.

Enjoy a welcoming drink and canapes, followed by an evening featuring the From the Heart keynote presentation by Dr Anita Heiss, a stimulating lineup of notable speakers including Steve MinOn and Amanda Camm MP, each presenting their own love letter to the sunshine state, and then a special performance, a Love song to Queensland written and sung by WWF president Karen Jacobsen.
